A Wolf in Winter Summary
| The last person Michaela Dunn expected to meet when she took on the responsibilities of running her uncle's snowmobile lodge in northern New Brunswick was a man like Travis Harding. Driving a team of huskies and buried under a heavy growth of hair and beard, he was as feral and earthy as Mikey, a Toronto lawyer with strange psychic powers, was civilized and sophisticated. Yet from their first encounter, sparks flew between them. Then they discover they have a common enemy. Ralph May, a local businessman with a shady past and even more infamous present, is out to get revenge on both Mikey and Travis for two vastly different reasons. When Ralph's body is found in the charred remains of his wilderness retreat, Travis and Mikey discover they're both suspects in his death. The pair has to combine forces to clear themselves. Here Mikey's psychic ability to recognize guilt or innocence comes into play. Like a human divining rod, she sets out to find a killer, Travis by her side. But once the killer becomes aware that Mikey is on the trail, the murderer decides both Mikey and Travis must die. Their days and nights become a battle to survive in the bitter February cold bush with a person intent on their deaths closing in on them. |
