Will Fight Evil For Food Summary
| The Earth has become the adopted home of a group of aliens who possess super abilities and have chosen to repay the world by fighting crime. Jake Mordant runs a private detective agency that, like others, is down on its luck because the super aliens' altruistic efforts are driving them out of business. Even the police in many large localities are feeling the pinch. Things are so bad that Jake even resorts to taking cases searching for missing pets. It's in that capacity that Jake encounters a "super alien" muscling in on his remaining business and discovers their weakness. Because of his success in that case and a new business slogan, his business recovers. Jake and his staff eventually take cases dealing with gargoyles, vampires, elves, witches, and attacks by an evil genius, just to list a few. As well, Jake forms an eventual friendship with yet another alien who came to Earth seeking a bride to become the mother of the next generation on his home world even though giving birth to over a million children might be disastrous to her figure. Throughout it all, Jake remains the same pessimistic, womanizing cad that his ex- wife would rather shoot than work for. Still, Jake has a heart of gold. He's willing to put his life on the line even for a vampire. Consequently, despite his many vices and failings, Jake proves that he's the right man for the job when it comes to fighting evil. |
