The intriguing story of a man working with is hands to make things better
during the early Bronze Age as farming replaced the hunter gathering. Some one had to make the first working wheel. Was his name Redbear? A man who had an intrinsic urge to improve on everything he learned or reasoned out. His life is full of laughs, love, sadness and adventure with just enough primitive religion to make it interesting. Page two. Gundr was having a strange dream. In his dream he had opened his eyes but what he saw confirmed that he was dreaming. There was a lamb flying through the sky above. Lambs can’t fly it had to be a dream. He was fascinated. The lamb was coming down just like a bird. It looked like it was going to land on his friend Redbear, stretched out full length in the bottom of the pit, alongside another member of the group, Paul laid out head to toe beside Redbear. The other two Chon and Alk were huddled up on either side of Gundr against the steep side of the pit. He watched as the young animal landed tail first into the completely relaxed stomach of the big redhead, bringing forth a gassy eruption from every available human port. The explosion of his hands that had been lying across his chest, sent the lamb back into the air, slowly revolving to again come to rest, this time hard head first into Paul’s vulnerable groin. Paul announced with a scream that he was very much awake and his frantic kick sent the poor animal this time in Gundr’s direction, who didn’t come out of his dream state fast enough to protect himself and the lambs sharp hooves slammed into his throat, causing punishment to his Adam’s apple. His strike at the offending lamb missed completely, hitting nothing until it came in contact with Alk’s face, splitting his lip. Reader Review: The Wheel, by Owen Rebbe, represents an original approach to historic fiction. Through the adventures of people who can with some justice be called aboriginal, we are present at an important development in history. This work sheds an unusual light on a major event which had a marked affect on man- and woman-kind. Dan M. Sullivan, PhD Department of Chemistry University of Nebraska About the Author: Curmudgeon age retired trucker who spent to many nights staying awake wondering about the guy who started all this traveling. No one seems to know for certain so I made the whole thing up. |
