The setting of this life journey takes place during a 358 mile bike trek on an 18 speed mountain
bike, that started in Anchorage and ended in Fairbanks, Alaska in August of 1987. During this
time I have remembrances of my childhood and young adult life. At a very young age I started
seeking adventure, fun and happiness in drugs, but I looked in the wrong place, because all I
found was death and destruction. This narrative has more than an interesting story line. It tells about a tragedy that can take place in any young person’s life, it just so happens that this young person’s life was mine. On the onset of the drug revolution trying to educate us young people on just how devastating drugs are to a life would have been a fumble attempt by parents and educators, because back then there was no one that they could use as an example of an of a destroyed life. Now, twenty-five years later there are millions of lives that have been shattered and countless families broken. This is the account of one of those lives that was blessed enough to live to tell about it. My hope is that by my sharing my experience with youth and young adults, I will save them the heartache and pain my family and I have had to live with all these years. This book is not about religion, although there are religious overtones. It is about Drugs — the Life Destroyer and how my promising life was shattered because of the poor choices I made as a youth. My belief in the graces of God is what has set my life on course again, and is what motivates me to reach out to today’s youth. |
