Timothy the squirrel Summary

A tale for nature and air loving people An island, covered almost entirely by a magnificent forest of many species of trees, was the home of a colony of animals: terrestrial, arboreal, aquatic, and aerial. They were born and lived and died in harmony with the seasons and in accordance with the laws of nature. Sporting events aroused a lot of interest. Many champions became kings. Timothy, the champion squirrel, dreamed of being able to fly but he had never been higher than the top of the Great Oak. He was the terror of the members of his tribe. As a substitute, he decided to establish a record jump, one that would never be equaled. During a particularly severe winter he became friends with a couple of swallows. Fred, the male, dreamed of becoming the fastest bird on the island, then in the universe. They coached each other and trained together to reach their goals. All went well until the day when those fearsome predators called men appeared. They had descended from their trees not long before. Following their attacks, Apla, a clairvoyant slug, declared: "Divided we perish, united we will win." Only after having suffered many misfortunes did the animals final listen to her. The strategy devised by Apla was successfully directed by Misty, the swallow, Fred's companion. Hugh the woodpecker, Gerry the swift, Lena the lovely squirrel, Renata the pretty frog, Grumpy the young and hotheaded boar, Malo the aristocratic pigeon and his companion Malouine, Edward the duck, Robur the albatross, Rudy the falcon, Thorval the king of the human tribe, his wife Morgane, and his son Tom, are the principal characters in this philosophical tale. Magnificently illustrated by a brilliant artist, it is aimed at all the lovers of nature, from 9 to 99 years of age.
