| The seaside community where Kate Fraser grew up isn't much, but she loves things just the way they are. The business owners on main street are family and friends and now the new mall project starting construction across from INCOGNITO's, where she works as a hair stylist threatens their livelihood. The community is very bitter about the new mall, but Kate is appalled to think anyone would do the project manager physical harm. She's on the beach with Jordan when the bungalow where he's staying explodes into flames. Thinking he's only an employee at the project, she's surprised that she's the only person in town to befriend him. She helps him search for his missing cat and borrows clothes from her brother for him to wear. By the time she learns he's not only the project manager, but the son of one of the project's investors, she must decide whether to side with her family and friends or the man she's falling in love with. Jordan Wilkins has a lot to prove, to the family he's known for a very short time and to himself. His father is the most successful contractor in the Southeastern section of the United States and his half-brother is fast becoming a major competitor. His father has given Jordan an opportunity to prove he has what it takes to move up in the family business. Project manager of a new mall doesn't seem like much of a challenge, that is, until he learns the community where he's building it has every intention of keeping him from doing so. The reality of just how much a challenge he faces comes home to him when the bungalow he's living in is burned to the ground. Jordan's rather surprised when Kate Fraser, a woman he met at the local hair salon and mistook for his foreman's fiancee, befriends him. When discovers she thinks he's just another employee at the project he doesn't enlighten her about his true connections with the investors. The more he gets to know Kate, the more he wants to work out an amicable arrangement that will satisfy the investors and the community alike. But, how do you incorporate a fifty year old boardwalk community with a modern indoor mall? And how do you work out anything with a community that is willing to resort to murder to keep things just the way they are? |
