Story of a Clam Summary

Story of a Clam
A Fable of Discovery and Enlightenment
Rebekah Alezander Dunlap and Sir John Templeton

Story of a Clam is a special, magical tale of an egotistical clam who thinks he and his community are the center of the universe. It offers us the artistry of the written word, creating an adventure in evolving consciousness. In an exciting series of events, the clam becomes aware that there is more to life than you presently know and experience. As the clam shifts from his selfish, unfocused life in the community to an awareness of a bigger world, a new and exotic element appears. A still, small voice becomes increasingly familiar and produces new information regarding the mysteries of the natural and spiritual worlds. He continues with help and guidance from others in this life-changing adventure and, in the process, opens his mind to the great plan of which we are all a part.

From this engaging teaching tale we realize that we are all faced with the limitations of our own minds and the narrowness of our cultural experience. We see only dimly the vast unseen, and understand less the Creator who lies behind all creation. We may think we have a fairly good understanding of life and consciousness, but perhaps we are all at least part clam.

Now is the time of a new millennium on this planet. Many strange stories are being whispered among the population. Yet, I feel peaceful. Change doesn’t scare me quite as much any more. As the present is heir to the past, so will the future be the child of the present. We can face our future and hope for a stroke of luck, or we can make conscious and constructive efforts to build our future. We can work today with a positive and exploratory attitude and allow our comprehension of a larger, greater Creator to continue....
