Our beginning was as students in the Rev. Robert Franklin Spencer's class "The Pen and the Power." Unwilling to give up this experience the Advanced Writers Workshop was born to continue our development and support one another.

We began with a college English teacher.submarine captain.airplane pilot instructor; a homemaker with imagination; and continued with a policeman turned detective; two retired Special Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, U.S. Treasury Department; an editor who operated her own thesis editing business; a woman with an extensive modeling career; two registered nurses; a licensed mental health therapist and hypnotherapist; two former school superintendents; an airline pilot; an editor of a trade magazine; a service engineer and dozens more.

These people have published and are publishing their own books, articles, and poems. literary awards and prizes grace their walls and their files.

It happened by accident. Somehow these people found themselves bound together with a love of writing.
