Humor is a very subjective thing. Some like slapstick, while others prefer
macabre jokes or dry wit.

Jim Carpenter calls his cartoon work "sneaky humor with a benevolently
cynical edge".
(he also calls it "intellectual humor" to cover himself when people don't get
the gags)
