SeeSaw Summary

While he is standing at the entrance to his driveway, waiting to be driven to the train station to report to his first assignment after boot camp, Ranen Sarensen looks down the avenue and sees the newspaper boy delivering the local paper. And he remembers the time when he delivered the paper as he looks further down the avenue, and relives some episodes in his life he wonders might have been responsible for the changes in him that has made him quit high school and join the service at seventeen: A neighborhood boy, whose mannerism at fifteen appears delinquent in look and behavior becomes his role model, while an older, introverted, eccentric character becomes for him the solitude and inspiration he seems to be looking for. His affair with a girl at school leads him towards the possibility of love. But they all just sequences in his life that seems to be guided by some inherited, destructive force that in the end finally tilts the seesaw inside him to an act that releases him from it.
