| She struggled to open her eyes but she could not. Her heart swelled with love for her friends and her family. She was proud of Brad, for she now understood his tears. But regardless of the pain it was causing him to stop her, he was doing it to save the queen. He should have a medal but instead of pride he would feel remorse and mourn her death. Venom had strangled her almost to death and her words had been true. If the only way to stop her was to kill her, then let her friend do it. But Venom had not killed her. She had choked enough air out of her to render her unconscious. And then had left her to recover and escape. Scarlett knew what Venom was thinking. If Scarlett did not regain her memory she no longer posed a threat. She would be marked as the queens enemy and an assassin from Nurum, On the other hand, if she regained her memory she could seek her vengeance against those who had brain washed her and sent her to kill her queen. She managed to open her eyes and looked around at the deserted garden. Her eyes lit on the blood that stained the grass from Brad's wound. "How could I have done this?" she cried. Then she remembered Samuel and Lloyd. They had not been her friends. They had taken advantage of her and brain washed her into doing what they needed done. If Brad had not showed up when he did, the queen, her friend, would be dead. Scarlett jumped to her feet, raced across the lawn, and grabbed her sword. She sheathed it, threw the cloak around her shoulders, ran to the back wall, and exited through a secret door. She stole a horse, and was on her way to the rendezvous point that Lloyd had given her. |
