Cop assigned to Princess’s Chicago visit rescues her from terrorists, sneaks her away to an uninhibited Arizona lifestyle, unpredictable passions blossom, then the terrorists return. Those 25 words will be recognized by movie fans as the standard logline for a screenplay, and indeed that is how the story was first written — being converted to a short and action-packed novel only after a well-established and prosperous Hollywood scriptwriter praised the script with the caveat that it would probably be sold only after it was shown to be successful in book form. This, he said, always gives the studio buyers confidence. So here it is, and the more the copies sold, the greater the chance of everyone seeing it later in the movie theatre – so do tell your friends about it and explain to them that at only five dollars it is a very cheap way for them to influence the movie industry. (The author has asked us to make it very clear, absolutely and unambiguously clear, that this is a work of fiction and that its brave heroine, the recently-divorced, tall, slim, athletic, witty, blonde, blue-eyed, affectionate, English princess, is no one you know and certainly not Princess Diana.) |
