At the height of the Vietnam War, twenty-seven members of a US special elite team were dropped into North Vietnam to live and fight alongside the Rands and the Montagnards in their struggle against the communist regime and Ho Chi Minh. Ordered to ambush troops along the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail, their job was one of the most dangerous of the war. Of the twenty-seven who went in, only three made it back. Henry Morgan is a modern Odysseus, struggling to find a way of returning from the Vietnam War. The world that he left behind when he went to war has disappeared and Morgan finds himself cast out of American society by virtue of the fact that he is a Vietnam War hero in a country that no longer values the art of war. Living in a monastery, he has turned his back on the world that turned its back on him. But, times change and suddenly there is a need for a man like Morgan again. A man who has made his voyage. An Odysseus who can bring order to a chaotic world. |
