She grabbed the job as the complex manager without realizing the rundown condition of the apartments and the near impossibility of turning the operation into a success. After weeks of long hours and sweating physical labor beside the suave maintenance man, the business begins to make a profit. During one particularly sweltering night Melissa plays nature girl to Jud's Tarzan in the rain on a patch of grass near the complex swimming pool. Carleton Chase, son of the insurance company owner where Melissa previously worked, finds and threatens her, eventually catching her alone. By then Jud is gone.
