Politics and the Economy in Jordan is the first study in English to examine important facets of the Jordanian economic and political scene. Aspects of Jordan's consumer society are explored, including the question of foreign aid support, the role of the private sector, and the demand for consumer durables. Despite economic and political problems, this study shows that Jordan has exhibited a certain economic resilience and that a national identity has been successfully fostered.
