"My World is Dying!" is a collective sob from a civilization whose people is threatened with
extinction from an incurable genetic disease. After existing for almost a billion years, the
population's gene pool has become very weak. Their DNA no longer replicates properly. The
unfortunate extraterrestrial people have to combine their genes with a race genetically similar
to their own to produce healthier offspring. But "My World is Dying!" focuses on a more personal level. It is the story of two young girls who share the same Earth mother but have different fathers. One girl lives in New York City and is the daughter of a rabbi. The other girl is the daughter of an extraterrestrial. She was born in another star system and was raised in an entirely different culture. Her father is a humble public school teacher. The American girl searches for her half sister. She is smuggled out of her country and out of her solar system. She reaches her sister's country which is a dictatorship. The American girl meets a lot of challenges. She relies on her Jewish faith for strength whenever she encounters difficulties. She learns that finding her sister is extremely hard. She bumps into many obstacles including culture shock and a language barrier. She comes of age during this very trying time in her life. The author would not define this novel as true science fiction, but rather as ethnic fiction. It describes how a race of people exist every day. Many readers who believe in UFOs believe this race of beings exist. About the Author: The author grew up in Brooklyn. Lawrence Edward's pen name is the first and middle name of her late brother. She was born in 1947, a month before the Roswell Crash. She experienced Sputnik when she was ten and the beginning of the space age. So outer space was a big influence on Lawrence Edward's life. A decade later Lawrence Edeward went to college and majored in biology. She minored in chemistry and physics. So molecular biology influenced this novel. But something else did, too. She tried to contact somebody in the Soviet Union. She tried and tried and tried. Her search failed. There were too many obstacles. "My World is Dying!" is a little autobiographical. If dealing with a country on one's own planet is hard, dealing with an extraterrestrial country must be that much harder. |
