Multiprocessor Systems-On-Chips Summary
| Systems-on-chips are integrated circuits that implement most or all of the functions of a complete electronic system. They can be found in many product categories ranging from consumer devices to industrial systems including cell phones, television production equipment, and video games. Increasingly modern system-on-chip (SoC) design is integrating multiple processor cores on a single chip (or MPSOCs) that contain several instruction set processors. In fact, most complex SoCs are MPSoCs because they need more than one CPU to perform the application. Designing a MPSOC requires an understanding of both the various design styles and techniques used in each processor and as well as the target application area. The editors have chosen internationally recognized authors to address the needs of the MPSOC designer. They focus on multiprocessor architectures, processors, operating systems, compilers, methodologies, and synthesis algorithms. |
