He gets injured while there, and Marmee (the girls mother) has to go and take care of him. The sisters Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy are left at home alone to take care of themselves. You see them as kids dealing with many adversities and adventures as the girls mature into women. Please Note: This book has been reformatted to be easy to read in true text, not scanned images that can sometimes be difficult to decipher.
