The Invisible War Summary

In 1642 after the Peasant Rebellion in Shimabara, Shogun Iemitsu declared war to eradicate all foreign influence from his country Japan. The rebellion occurred when the mistreated and starving villagers of Shimabara attempted to fight back against the oppressive government which ruled over them. Although they battled valiantly, the power of the Shogun was too great, and many were executed for their efforts. Mayako is a young Japanese woman trained as a kunoichi(female ninja) from the age of 7. Her mission, along with the other assassins under the shogun's power, is the Buddhist Inquisition - the torturous deaths of all foreigners and those practicing religious freedom. Mayah is a sister of Joel, the Avenger of Blood (a historical figure in Jewish culture who avenged the deaths of the innocent). Joel and his sisters embark on a year-long voyage from Israel to Shimabara, Japan to defend those being persecuted. They have all been well schooled in Israeli war tactics and strategy. However, in Japan, they may have come across an enemy too powerful to deadly to overcome in the form of Mayako and the silent warriors that stalked the shadows of 17th Century Japan.
