Huntingtower Summary

He was already suspect, and the sight of him back again in Dalquharter would double that suspicion. He must brazen it out, but he distrusted his powers with such tell-tale stuff in his pockets. They might murder him anywhere on the moor road or in an empty railway carriage. An unpleasant memory of various novels he had read in which such things happened haunted his mind.. ..There was just one consolation.

Dickson McCunn, a respectable, newly-retired grocer, plans a modest walking holiday in the hills of south-west Scotland. He meets a young English poet and finds himself in the thick of a plot involving the kidnapping of a Russian princess, prisoner in the rambling mansion, Huntingtower.

An old man takes what may be the last walking tour of his life. A young war hero tours the countryside on foot after convalescing from wounds he suffered during the first world war. A Russian princess is kidnapped. And the key to the the crime lies in a romantic, forboding castle on the coast of Scotland. In this novel of romance and adventure, John Buchan spins a tale of mystery, intrigue, and suspense.
