| When a mountain climber falls--he falls fast and he falls far. Buck Halloran has the broken bones to prove it. What he doesn't expect during his convalescence is to fall fast and hard for the woman next door who first attracts him with incredible aromas from her kitchen, then drops out of a tree almost into his lap. She enchants him with her glowing smile and sultry laughter, as well as her voice in the night as they converse from their bedrooms, separated by nothing more than a narrow lane and a maple tree. Darcy Gallagher doesn't want to like the hot-shot, world-renowned mountaineer. She'd rather strangle him than feed him, especially after he scares her half to death by stealing pies and other goodies from her larder, making her think she has an intruder lurking in her house. But still, it's not in her nature to let anyone go hungry, so she prepares his meals and in doing so, discovers she--and he--share a different kind of hunger, one she's incapable of subduing. Feeding it seems only to make it grow stronger. Buck wants Darcy to share his life, but how can she when her deepest needs demand that she stay put in order to become an adoptive mother?
