Mutsun es uno de ocho dialectos de Ohlone/Costanoan que fueron hablados a lo largo de la región costera central de California. El Mutsun viene de la tierra que estiró del condado meridional de Santa Clara al condado norteño de Monterey y de Merced occidental a la costa del Océano Pacífico. 
Mutsun is one of eight Ohlone/Costanoan dialects that were spoken along the central California coastal region.  The Mutsun come from land that stretched from southern Santa Clara county to northern Monterey county and from western Merced to the coast of the Pacific Ocean.
Mientras que la gente de Mutsun trabajó en las misiones la forzaron aprender español y abandonar su lengua materna. El altavoz fluido pasado era Ascencion Solorsano que murió en 1930. La entierran en el cementerio del San Juan Bautista de la misión.
As Mutsun people labored at the Missions they were forced to learn Spanish and abandon their native language.  The last fluent speaker was Ascencion Solorsano who died in 1930.  She is buried at the Mission San Juan Bautista cemetery.

There are hundreds of Mutsun living in California today, many of whom continue to learn, teach and practice Mutsun traditional ways.
