Flying Star: A Sailboat's Story Summary

The main character of this book is a sailboat named "Flying Star." It is written by her owner with love. But it is more than a book about sailing and sailboats, it is a travel guide for boaters and "land lovers" alike, as Mr. Morgan takes his readers with him as he and Flying Star visit interesting and exciting places. Flying Star's life began with tragedy when members of her crew were lost in a hurricane, but she managed to survive and go on to live a full and exciting life. The story is a delightful mix of anecdotes and advice that is experienced, witty and well-written. It eloquently captures Mr. Morgan's passion for sailing, sailboats and travel.

The handy resource list included at the end of the book is very helpful to travelers by boat or land. A great book for sailors, travelers and those who just dream about sailing away and visiting fun and exciting places.

About the Author:
When World War II pilot Colonel Emory Claude Morgan (flying P38s and later B47s and B52s) retired, he found the pleasure and peace of sailing a welcome change from the excitement of aerial combat.

After a second career managing a wholesale brass importing business, Colonel Morgan took up sailing and later started to record his adventures. "Flying Star" is his second book. His first book "All Goes Well" recounted his adventures on a motorsailer called "Tout Va Bien."

A resident of Carmichael, California, Mr. Morgan is currently working on his memoirs from World War II.
