Fire & Roses Summary

In the summer of 1834, a woman climbed over the wall of a Roman Catholic convent in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Some said she was being held at the Ursuline convent against her will; others claimed she'd been murdered. On August 11, 1834, emboldened by prejudice, pride, and cowardice, a mob of Protestant men burned the convent to the ground.
