European Union and the South examines the European Union's relations with developing countries, the "South." Marjorie Lister examines Europe's colonial legacy and places relations with the South within the context of European Union foreign policy more generally. Lister considers Africa, the Mahgreb and the Mediterranean region as well as the Caribbean, the Pacific, Latin America and East Asia. She examines the nature of development policy both at member state and European Union levels, and gives special analysis of the Lome Convention. Lister argues that Europe has a role to play in bringing about a positive future for the "South," and in particular for Africa.
