| "A Dish of Poison" is a prequel to Twelfth Night. Viola is pretending to be a young man in Duke Orsino's household. Orsino wants to court Countess Olivia, but Olivia is too distressed by her brother Leonardo's death to consider his suit. So Orsino asks Viola to go undercover at Olivia's house--by pretending to be a woman. There Viola discovers not only the truth behind Leonardo's death, she exposes tensions in the household--and in her own heart--that lead into the events of the actual play. |
