It didn't have to come to total war. But now, despite the establishment of a
Palestinian state, a gross act of mass terrorism strikes Tel-Aviv, killing
thousands. Israel's retaliation is brutal, bloody and devastating. A storm of Israeli heavy artillery, tank fire and air strikes obliterates the new Republic of Palestine. Tens-of-thousands of Palestinians die and hundreds-of-thousands flee from the West Bank and Gaza. But there is something even worse... and more ominous. An act of pure hatred destroys the last links of human-to-human understanding when Israeli forces destroy the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. The die is cast. From now on the Arab/Israeli conflict is a contest of annihilation. The Israeli invasion catapults a survivor of the onslaught, Major Tariq Hussieni, into a role he's never dreamed of. He awakens in an Amman hospital after a dramatic escape across the Jordan River. Tariq learns of that while he cheated fate, his wife and children have died during the invasion. Tariq's mind contorts into pure fury and hatred. Now he can only focus on a new mission; the destruction of Israel at all costs! Using his will, Tariq unites the Arab world, either exiling or killing the Arab leaders who have not come to Palestines' aid. Now Tariq will use his formidable will to create the military capability to achieve his goals. He must raise and train a truly professional army to destroy Israel. Tariq is no fool. He understands the Jewish State has nuclear weapons. But thoughts of revenge at any cost consume him. He must find a way and trusts God to provide a miracle. Pascalle De Turnova, the new president of a politically unified European Union, is horrified. She sees the bloody Israeli invasion as a symptom of a larger disease; American hegemony and the world-wide interference of a "hyper- power." Pascalle is determined to stop the blight of America on the world. She is cunning, and uses her sharp intellect to shape political reality. De Turnova, waiting her entire life for this moment, doesn't hesitate. In a masterful display of raw political will, she isolates the U.S. at the U.N., pushes through complete trade and travel sanctions against Israel. The resolution includes a provision declaring any state breaking the sanctions is subject to the same sanctions. De Turnova knows full well how the U.S. will react. Moreover, Pascalle adds a clause allowing member-states to use, "all necessary means," to enforce the sanctions. As expected, the Americans attempt to veto the proposed sanctions... and play right into her hands. In a face-to- face confrontation at the U.N., De Turnova leads a successful effort to strip the US of its veto power and permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council. Israel is effectively blockaded and the US is suddenly an isolated diplomatic pariah. Bonds of alliance and friendship are broken. Europe and the United States are no longer allies. Now, they face each other as enemies. John McManus, the President of the United States, believes this is the transcendent mission of his presidency. He will stop at nothing to prevent Israel from being driven into the sea. In his mind, McManus traces a the series of events from 9/11, to Iraq and Afghanistan and the cyanide attack on Tel Aviv, as part of a larger war... a war against America. He is determined to win that war at all costs. Fearing a second Holocaust, McManus gives his solemn pledge to keep Israel from being starved out of existence by using the full might of the U.S. military. He orders the U.S. Navy to organize and escort Israel bound convoys through the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. Sanctions are immediately applied to the U.S. leading to worldwide economic disaster. More ominously, De Turnova successfully uses the U.S. action to convince the European Union Parliament to authorize a crash armaments program. The program includes state-of-the-art weapons for Hussieni's new army. Tensions escalate as the convoys continue. The sun is setting on a world once filled with the hope for peace. A new dawn is coming. The Dawn of the Crescent Sun. |
