Daisy Miller, a novella published in 1878 is the precursor to many of James' later works. Daisy is a free spirited American traveling in Europe. She breaks all the rules of polite society by having fun and doing what pleases her. James writes of the differences in American and European values of the time. And we can now see the difference between our present values and mores and those of the not so different past. This is an Enhanced Letter Format (ELF) book.
