Meg Stryker is an attorney with a civil practice that turns deadly un-civil when she agrees to represent one hundred sick people cheated out of health care. A series of strange, threatening events finally convinces Meg that in order to do her jobłand save her own life, as well as her new lover'słshe must first solve a murder.

Complicating her efforts are a large group of contentious clients, one very seductive client, and an old friendship that suddenly blossoms into a lesbian romance.
