SCROOGE IN LOVE?

Here is a delightful, heart-warming book that will enthrall everyone who made Ebenezer Scrooge's acquaintance in Dickens' A Christmas Carol. A reformed Scrooge is still trying to work out what to do with his wealth and remaining years. Then his nephew introduces him to Mrs Kincaid, a handsome widow whose wisdom and good works are widely respected. Mrs Kincaid, who lives in the Vale of Pewsey, persuades Scrooge that, if he is ever to achieve peace of mind, he must start to use his surplus wealth to support worthwhile causes.  In short, he must learn to give money away. It's a new idea for the former skinflint, but even Scrooge recognises it is good advice.  But, after a lifetime of hoarding every penny, can this old dog learn new tricks. But life is about to change for Scrooge in ways not even the three ghosts of Christmas could have predicted. For the old miser meets Billy, an orphan of the streets, who soon wins a place in Scrooge's heart. But once his heart is melted by Billy, Scrooge discovers it harbors another, even more unaccustomed feeling, one that frightens him as not even the ghost of Jacob Marley did. Scrooge, it seems, is falling in love with the widow of Pewsey.  But even if he manages to pluck up the courage to ask Mrs Kincaid to marry him, will she agree? Or is the December of life too late to recapture the love and happiness he once stubbornly turned his back upon? Could any woman say yes to the man once known as the meanest man in London? And if she does, will something come up to prevent the wedding of Ebenezer Scrooge? Or will he pay the price of his many years of sinning?
