One of our priests is missing, and not just any priest, but the most popular priest in all of France. In this mystery of almost unbearable suspense, the Archbishop of Paris has requested the services of everyone's favorite priest/detective, Auxiliary Bishop Blackie Ryan, to help find the missing priest. Not just a Dominican Friar, but a TV superstar who has become the idol of all of France -- a country not known for adoration of the clergy. The Cardinal Archbishop of Chicago, Sean Cronin, orders our hero to Paris with his usual "See to it Blackie." He then decides to accompany Blackie for a short vacation, which consists mostly of visits to three star restaurants in the company of his beautiful sister-in-law, Nora. Blackie not only has to find the missing priest, but act as a chaperone to the Cardinal and his gorgeous companion. A beautiful young beggar girl becomes Blackie's translator and constant companion on the case and together they find that not everyone is unhappy about the disappearance of Friar Jean-Claude. In fact, the hierarchy of the church is thrilled to be rid of him because he was getting too popular. But miracles have a way of following the man... and nothing embarrasses the church more than miracles. Our intrepid hero Blackie's conclusion which will startle and charm his millions of admirers. |
