The Arrival Summary

Musician TONY MILES is having a bad day. He’d awakened thinking he’d spend his day writing the one song his band needs to get their career back on-track. But when his computer starts acting strangely and his synthesizer melts before his eyes, Tony wonders if the drug experiments of his younger days are having a prolonged effect. Seeing your synthesizer melt for no apparent reason may not constitute a bad trip, he thinks, but it sure as hell comes close.

While investigating the malfunction, Tony discovers an alien who had been trapped in the synthesizer and had melted the machine in order to escape. Always polite, the alien RACHEENILYX apologizes for destroying the music maker then explains its purpose on Earth: to find the one human-alien hybrid who can save its race from the tyrannical KACHONI. The alien implores Tony to help it.

Never one to turn away from a challenge, Tony enlists the help of his bandmate and decides to write a song with an embedded message which will compel the hybrid to contact Racheenilyx. Soon after the song’s release, people around the world begin hearing voices in reaction to the song, and Tony begins receiving anonymous letters and e-mail messages. “People around you are not who they seem to be,” one writer warns. Is it a sign that Kachoni is closing in, a message from the hybrid, or the rantings of a lunatic fan? Will Racheenilyx find the hybrid before Kachoni does, or will Tony Miles and his band be sacrificed in the process?

The Arrival, the first of a three-part series, blends mysticism, science fiction and martial arts into a refreshing literary smoothie, an adventure like no other.
