Dr. Mirchandani's book is an informative guide to alternative therapies that are safe and effective and it shows how they can complement orthodox medicine. He enlightens the reader on the working of the major systems of the human body emphasizing the heart, blood circulation and blood chemistry and describes how mistreatment of the body contributes to modern mans' diseases: diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and kidney failure. Patient histories-including his-are presented to illustrate the improved health possible using these therapies. He explains five lesser-known therapies that are gaining acceptance by practitioners and patients: CHELATION THERAPY for restoring blood flow in hardened and blocked arteries by the injection of the synthetic amino acid EDTA, thereby alleviating cardio-vascular problems; LIPID REPLACEMENT THERAPY (Plaquex) infusion that revitalizes cell membranes reversing age-related damage; DIMETHYL SULFOXIDE (DMSO) is used to block pain messages to the brain and to transport medicines to a location in the body needing treatment through its membrane penetration property; ULTRA VIOLET BLOOD IRRADIATION to combat viral infections by radiating with UV light a small amount of a patient's blood; HYDROGEN PEROXIDE injection puts extra oxygen into the blood that stimulates cell functions enhancing the immune system. At the peak of an engineering career, Dr. Mirchandani had a massive heart attack, but declined urged bypass surgery. He directed his inquisitiveness to his health and study of the body's systems.
