| This ebook discusses how to develop a method to measure concentration of air pollutants that are existed in the air. In the introduction part, twelve types of air pollutant that are commonly encountered in indoor air have been discussed. Scope of the discussion in this section is included emission sources, health effect, toxicity and its sampling method. Second chapter in this book discusses the toxicity of the various types of air pollutants and the calculation of the OSHA 8-hour TWA and also the equivalent exposure in a mixture of air pollutants. Calculation of the air pollutant in air and in solvent is discussed at the beginning in the chapter three. Second part in this chapter discusses the preparation of the static and dynamic atmospheric air sample. Static and dynamic atmospheric air sample is an artificial polluted air in an enclosed space for development of air pollution monitoring method. Chapter four covers analytical instrument parameters, such as instrumental detection limit, quantitation limit, precision, linearity and sensitivity are discussed explicitly. Examples for each parameter determination also include in this chapter. Discussion in chapter five is related to basic sampling method parameters such as breakthrough volume, recovery percentage, retention efficiency, storage stability, reproducibility, precision, method detection limit, reliable quantitation limit and also comparison test. In the following chapter, simple air sampling strategies are discussed including the personal monitoring. Chapter seven is an introduction of the various types of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) sampling method. Each type of the sampling method is discussed deeply in the following chapters. Types of VOCs sampling method that are included in the discussion, are solvent desorption tubes, thermal desorption tubes, Tedlar or Teflon sampling gas bag, passive samplers, evacuated air containers, U tube cryogenic sampling, direct reading instrument and impinger. |
