Adventures in Teaching: Animal Tales Summary
| Along the way of becoming an educator, I started writing a Sunday newspaper column entitled Adventures in Teaching for the Midland Reporter Telegram in Midland, Texas, hometown of President George W. Bush. In my column, I describe my remarkable experiences teaching eighth grade science. My newspaper column is a fresh, new voice in the newspaper with wide appeal to many readers. It contains a rich blend of touching human interest and humorous stories of the daily challenges and triumphs faced in education. People frequently stop me on the street, in stores, in church, and at work to say how much they enjoy my stories. What surprised me was the humorous stories made people laugh and the sad ones made people cry. (Thank goodness, the reverse was not true.) Like my newspaper column, my book is a first person narrative with an inspirational message that uplifts, motivates, and educates as well as focusing on children, animals, parents, families, and teachers. Adventure in Teaching: Animal Tales is a compilation of all of my newspaper columns that have involved animals. |
