QOLA & The GERM Exterminators is a colorful new guidebook playfully written to
teach children how to avoid catching the Swine Flu and other infectious
diseases.
With the Pandemic alert now being the highest in over 40 years, parents around
the world are desperately seeking information to prevent their children from
becoming infected with the potentially deadly H1N1 Virus.
According to the CDC, “Illness rates will be the highest among school-aged
children (about 40%) and decline with age.”
Mother and author Roxanna Bain says, “Children are continually exposed to
germs, especially at school and at play. They, like many adults, do not ever
think that the things they touch and play with harbor germs that will infect
them. The children unintentionally carry these germs home to other family
members, causing even more school and work absenteeism.”
In her new book, “QOLA & The Germ Exterminators,” Ms Bain elaborates much
further as she graphically demonstrates specific areas to be aware of where
germs could be hiding at home, at school, and at play.
Children will not even realize they are being taught valuable life saving
lessons when they follow the lead of four colorful, unique fictional
characters who teach them how to locate and kill the germs before they can
become infected.
Little ones will quickly become fans as they follow QOLA, a cuddly Koala Bear,
and his new team of “Germ Exterminators;” Roary, a white furry creature from
the Aurora Borealis; Himinamis Bear, a cute little guy from the forest; and
the Jingle Bell Monster, a fluffy green “monster” that has been befriended by
Santa Claus.
Recently, news networks reported that nearly 100 children tested positive for
the Swine Flu at a summer camp in Maine.
In the QOLA & The GERM Exterminators book, colorful pictures beside each tip
will keep your children's attention, and teach them how to be more careful so
they will not become a statistic during this Pandemic of 2009, or any other
time.
In Chapter 4, QOLA teaches fourteen basic health habits everyone should
practice to stay well. If they should catch a cold or the flu, there is a
list of ten ways to help get well fast and avoid infecting others.
Chapter 5 begins a colorful, picturesque list of more than twenty five
specific areas where germs hide at home, at school, and at play.
The first of a series, QOLA & The GERM Exterminators, will soon have sequel
books and other products that will teach children how to avoid germs that
cause infections as they travel and begin new adventures. These are life-long
lessons children will always remember to help them live a much healthier life.
In an excerpt from the book below, QOLA is returning from his doctor’s office
after just recovering from the flu.
Chapter 3 ~ QOLA’S GERM Exterminators
On the way home from the doctor’s office QOLA thought and thought until he had
an idea! He would contact some of his friends around the world and they would
form a team to find the germs and stop them from infecting their friends and
family. He even thought of a name for his new team: QOLA’S GERM
Exterminators!
Their mission would be to find and wipe out all of the germs at home, at
school, and at play. They would exterminate (kill) all of the germs before
the germs could get into their bodies and make them sick.
When QOLA got home he immediately planned to visit his good friends to share
the news. His parents and sister were sad he was leaving, but agreed it was a
worthwhile mission. They even gave him a big box of hand sanitizer to keep
him safe from germs, and to share with others.
As QOLA clipped the pen sized hand sanitizer to his pocket, he pointed it like
a weapon and shouted, “WIPEM OUT NOW!” He was quite impressed with himself
for creating a brand new word (pronounced “Wipe-M”) that would become the
battle cry for his team of Germ Exterminators!
About the Author:
Roxanna Bain considers herself to be a “professional patient.” Several
hospital stays, combined with the H1N1 Pandemic, were the muse for her to pen
a new booklet “Staying Alive In The Hospital.”
While writing the book to warn patients of the rampant infectious diseases
people contract while in the hospital, Ms. Bain decided to find a way to teach
children how to avoid becoming a patient with the Swine Flu, or any other
disease.
“QOLA & The GERM Exterminators” was written with the dream to have it provided
free to all school children. Ms. Bain believes we must teach our children at
an early age that health is a valuable and precious asset they must cherish
and protect.
Some of her past projects include writing, producing, and hosting "Get Juiced
With The Stars", a set of audio cassettes for an International Health Company
featuring Nick Scotti and Sharon Farrell from the popular daytime soap opera,
The Young and The Restless.
Following this project, she developed, produced, and hosted a set of 8 audio
tapes titled "Series of Success", dealing with disease and nutrition. She also
created, wrote, and hosted two live radio talk shows, "The Small Business
Incubator", and "The Beauty Spot" at a Florida radio station.
Being a mother, she especially enjoys working on children’s projects. One of
her first ones was marketing and arranging promotional tours for America's
first non-violent action heroes, THE NEON TIKI TRIBE, that now has plush toys,
a book, music and a video developed.
Another children's project that she helped develop is "The Jingle Bell
Monster" (JBM). Working closely with the creator, Lathan Hudson, a 4 time
Grammy nominated Nashville Songwriter, they now have a plush toy, a musical CD
and a children's storybook ready to go to market.
Soon after JBM, Lathan was inspired to create a character named “ROARY”, now
one of QOLA’S Germ Exterminators. Roxanna wrote a story about him based on two
of Lathan’s musical compositions. The book is titled “ROARY, Guardian of the
Northern Lights”, and will be available soon, along with the plush toy and
musical CD.
In her spare time, Roxanna enjoys creating Reality and Lifestyle Television
Shows. She has optioned her first Reality TV show, 'LADIES AND GENTLEMEN", and
another one "HUMAN GUINEA PIGS", placed as a Semi-Finalist in a Write Safe
PRESENT-A-THON Contest.
At this point in time, Ms Bain is on a mission to find sponsors for “QOLA &
The GERM Exterminators” to provide the booklet free to all children, and to
market the accessory plush toys, books, and CDs.
