eBook Review:
POT OF GOLD is the first book where Larry and Janet Garrison defeat a wicked
witch named Evilla, and ENCHANTA is the second book where Barbara and David
Morgan, cousins to Janet and Larry, help Master Wisher find his three sons, and
rescues their land, and his wife, Queen Hope from the horrible Beneathians.
SPACE BUGS: EARTH INVASION is the third fantasy
novel in the trilogy written by Jay Dubya.
In this wonderful book, the four children combine
to defeat the evil forces of Queen Termita, from planet Insectia, and her army.
After they hear that they are needed, the four
kids go to Hammonds Grove, New Jersey, home of the author, to visit their
well-known landmark, Superstitious Rock. There they wish for their old friends,
Rhymer, from the POT OF GOLD, Changer, Pretender, and Inventor, from ENCHANTA to
help them with their new mission.
Mr. Dubya includes some spectacular weapons, used
by Queen Termita against the brave clan, in his story, such as: indentatron, the
micro-minimizer, and the evilsizer. They fight a ferocious monster named the
Insectaclops in Queen Termita's spaceship arena.
He also includes imaginative characters such as:
Major Maggot, Colonel Cocoonis, Princess Pupa, and Baron Bee.
The four magical creatures, Rhymer, Changer,
Pretender, and Inventor pull some pretty hilarious pranks against the Queen's
army. Do they defeat the army? Does everyone get to go to their homelands in one
piece?
As I read, Mr. Dubya had me wondering if there
really are such magical worlds out there, and are there creatures before us that
humans are just too realistic and close-minded to see.
Jay Dubya is the writing name of John Wiessner,
an extremely talented children's author. Mr. Dubya is a retired English teacher
after teaching in public schools for thirty-four years, which is quite an
accomplishment. He is married to Joanne and has three grown sons. Jay Dubya
lives in Hammonton, New Jersey. He is a multi-published author in several
different genres.
ENCHANTA is the first book in the young adult
fantasy novel, the other two titles are: POT OF GOLD, and SPACE BUGS: EARTH
INVASION.
I found this, and the other two books in the
trilogy, to be absolutely fantastic. My son, Nicholas, age ten, loved Mr.
Dubya's books, as well. So, as an author, mother of three children, and a
children's book reviewer, I highly recommend the works of Jay Dubya.
