Debt, addiction, depression, sickness, fears…we all have problems in our life that seem impossible to overcome. My giant was debt and it almost killed me…but I found the secret to deliverance in the story of David and Goliath.

Let’s read a little of that story in First Samuel 17:40. The young shepherd boy David told King Saul he could defeat the ten foot Goliath who had terrified the armies of Israel.

King Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for thou art but a youth (1 Samuel 17:33).

King Saul had absolutely no faith in this bold teenager, but David had what it took to defeat the giant in his life. David had unshakeable faith in God! The Bible tells us, All things are possible to him who believes (Mark 9:23, NIV). With man this is impossible, but with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! (Mathew 19:26). Faith in God was David’s unbeatable weapon!

The Word of God warns us…Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help (Psalm 146:3, NKJ). No, if we trust ourselves or other people to kill the giant problem in our life, we will never overcome it. But when we depend on God, our victory is guaranteed! God can do what man cannot do! (Luke 18:37, TW). The Lord is my champion; I will not be afraid (Hebrews 13:6, TW). The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world…on the contrary, they have divine power! (2 Corinthians 10:4, NIV). We have divine power! We have God’s power to kill the giant problem in our life! And we have God’s promise that He will do what he says he is going to do. God is not slack in keeping His promises (2 Peter 3:9, NIV). He says, Yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass (Isaiah 46:11).

Halleluiah! God will bring to pass your deliverance from every giant problem in your life! If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). Why should we worry? We have the Creator of the Universe on our side! That is why David knew he was going to win!

He said to Goliath, This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand (1 Samuel 17:46, NKJ). No, we will not deliver ourselves…the Lord will deliver us from the addiction, the marital strife, the nightmares, the creditors! And if he did it for David, He will do it for us because the Bible says God is not partial! (Acts 10:34). He treats everyone the same- including anyone facing a giant problem in their life! Now let’s get back to our story…
