This book is for parents of young children who are having difficulty sleeping
and want a practical guide to help. It contains:
-- 13 strategies for getting your baby to sleep
-- 161 tips 'n tricks
*** Does it take long for your baby to go to sleep? ***
As it gets to bedtime, do you get stressed because you know what's in store?
Will you be spending most of the next couple of hours trying to get your baby to
sleep? Will she be crying and resisting with all her might? When you put her
down in her crib, does she wake up as soon as she is out of your arms and cry
again?
*** Has he suddenly got worse? ***
You have it mastered. He goes to bed at a regular time, and sleeps a good 6
hours most nights. Until about a week ago when the ways you used to put him to
sleep don't seem to work, and he doesn't want to go to bed any more. And when he
does, he now struggles to sleep and doesn't want you to leave, crying as soon as
you're out of the room.
*** Do you need to reduce night-time stress levels? ***
One of the most stressful parts of having a baby is the lack of sleep that both
baby and parent will usually have (sleep deprivation is actually a recognised
form of torture in international law!). So we are always looking for ways to
help them sleep better, because although we suffer the baby is not much better
off unless he can learn to sleep more soundly.
*** 13 Strategies for putting YOUR baby to bed ***
That is the point of this book. It is to suggest a wide variety of ways that
experts, parents, and expert parents have tried in order to work through this
phase. It assumes that you are the only person who really knows your baby, your
family and your home environment, and for that reason that you are the best
person to choose what would work best in your case.
*** 161 tips and tricks to get her to sleep better / quicker ***
If traditional ways haven't worked for you, or if you haven't tried at least a
dozen different ways, then this book will be for you. It suggests a variety of
tips and strategies that you may want to try from many different views and
opinions. Tips which help answer questions like ...
-- How can I help my baby to sleep earlier?
-- Should I be sleeping with my baby?
---- Will this help her sleep?
---- Is it safe?
-- Should I be nursing her to sleep?
---- If I do, how can I wean her off it?
-- What kind of bedtime routine helps her sleep?
---- What should I avoid?
-- What works best at each age?
-- What can I do during the day to help her sleep at night?
-- How do I know if she has a sleep problem?
-- Where should I put her to bed?
-- How should I put her to bed?
-- What do I do about her needing mommy for sleep?
-- How do I stop her coming to my bed at night or in the morning?
-- and many more ...
If none of these work, then the international tribunal may be your only way!
*** No waffle - just straight talk and tips ***
This is not a book on child psychology or biology. It is a straight to the point
guide with tips and strategies on how to help your baby sleep. There is a
thorough reference, bibliography and web resource list at the end if you want to

6. About the Web’s Best Guides
About the Author:
This book is written from painful experience. The author has two young children
who were both terrible sleepers for different reasons. So he looked for ways to
get them to sleep. Overwhelmed by the amount of information available on the
internet, he decided to combine his skills as a researcher with his need as a
father and to go through hundreds of sites picking up tips to help his babies to
sleep. This book is the result of that research.
Note that the Webs Best Guide Series is committed to helping the
under-privileged and contributes from the profit on each book to a charitable
cause. For this guide, contribution will be made to a charity working with
children in underdeveloped countries.
