Es ist mir nie ernsthaft in den Sinn gekommen, daß mein Leben einmal die Leere zwischen zwei Buchdeckeln ausfüllen könnte. Ich bin Schauspieler, und meine Stärke ist das "Tönende Wort". Damit habe ich schon manches gerettet, was andere geschrieben haben ... Auge in Auge mit dem Publikum, machte ich immer wieder die gleiche Erfahrung: Man hörte mir zu ... Man lachte viel ... Man war betroffen ... Doch was mich immer wieder berührte ... Man wollte mehr über mich wissen. Das verschlug mir stets die Sprache, doch Kollegen hatten den rettenden Einfall: Schreib's auf, Lux! (und irgendwann tat ich's ...) Alfred Lux, geboren 1926 in Elbing/Westpreußen, begann 1942 seine Schauspielausbildung in Hamburg, unterbrochen durch Krieg und russische Gefangenschaft von 1944 bis 1948. Bis 1953 hatte er verschiedene Engagements in Hamburg und war Mitbegründer des "Dramaturgischen Kollegiums". 1953 Über- siedlung nach Berlin, Rollen in DEFA-Spielfilmen und an Theatern, ab 1963 auch Regietätigkeit. 1968 Gründung des ersten Kleinsttheaters der DDR "minimax", das 1973 nach Ulbrichts Tod mit einer spektakulären Aktion geschlossen wurde. Lux wurde zur "Unperson" und schrieb in der Zeit danach 30 Theaterstücke bewusst für die Schublade. Als 1985/89 kulturpolitisches "Tauwetter" einsetzte, bekam er Angebote als Drehbuchautor für das Fernsehen der DDR. Seit der politischen Wende 1989 ist er wieder als Schauspieler und weiterhin als Autor tätig.
