Und selbst wenn sie schon in jungen Jahren lernen muss, was Bürgerkrieg und Flucht bedeuten, so ist Alexandra doch zutiefst verwurzelt mit dem Schwarzen Kontinent, der ihr zur über alles geliebten - zur einzigen Heimat wird.

Über die Autorin: Alexandra Fuller wurde 1969 in England geboren. Als sie zwei Jahre alt war, wanderte ihre Familie nach Rhodesien, dem heutigen Simbabwe, aus. Auf der Flucht vor den Bürgerkriegsunruhen verschlug es die Fullers 1981 zunächst nach Malawi, dann nach Sambia. 1994 verließ Alexandra Fuller Afrika, um in Kanada und Schottland zu studieren. Heute lebt sie mit ihrer Familie in Wyoming, USA. "Unter afrikanischer Sonne" ist ihr erstes Buch, das in Amerika eine euphorische Presseresonanz auslöste und als ein neuer Klassiker autobiographischer Literatur gefeiert wurde.
