En el Cap?tulo I se introduce al lector en la temßtica de esta investigaci?n y se brindan algunas relaciones entre el VIH/SIDA y el surgimiento de los estudios sobre homosexualismo en Costa Rica.
El Cap?tulo II expone la justificaci?n del estudio a trav?s de una reflexi?n en torno a los temas relacionados con establecimiento de las relaciones de pareja en hombres gay en Costa Rica y el papel que ha tenido la antropolog?a costarricense en el estudio de las sexualidades.
El Cap?tulo III presenta los antecedentes relacionados con el estudio de la homosexualidad en Costa Rica, tales como el VIH/SIDA, la construcci?n de una identidad y la conformaci?n de una comunidad gay, el estudio de las relaciones de pareja en hombres gay, y la violencia y la masculinidad.
En el Cap?tulo IV se delimitan conceptualmente los t?rminos y las categor?as de anßlisis de la investigaci?n, a trav?s de una reflexi?n alrededor del afecto y el amor, la violencia, la homofobia, y la masculinidad y el machismo.
El Cap?tulo V resume la metodolog?a y se presenta el problema al que se desea responder, los objetivos generales y espec?ficos, la poblaci?n de estudio, la estructura de la investigaci?n y la estrategia de recopilaci?n de la informaci?n.
En el Cap?tulo VI se presenta a cada uno de los entrevistados a trav?s de la identificaci?n de sus caracter?sticas sociodemogrßficas tales como la edad, el lugar de nacimiento, el nivel de escolaridad, la profesi?n, la ocupaci?n y el estado civil.
En el Cap?tulo VII se aborda el tema de la homosexualidad y la influencia de los diferentes discursos dados por la familia, la iglesia, la escuela y los amigos.
El Cap?tulo VIII incluye informaci?n sobre el proceso de construcci?n de las relaciones de pareja anteriores a la actual. Espec?ficamente se aborda el concepto de afectividad y las diferentes formas en que los entrevistados lo han expresado (y se los han expresado) a las personas con las cuales han iniciado una relaci?n.
