"Children-Their Rights and Privileges" is based on a speech given by Victoria Woodhull to the American Association of Spiritualists at its Eighth National Convention on Wednesday, September 13, 1871 in Troy, NY. It contains some of her earliest ideas about how society could be restructured to create a "perfected humanity" from "perfect children." This 13-page text comes from the October 7, 1871 issue of Woodhull & Claflin's Weekly and was originally entitled "The Training of Children-Good Advice to Mothers." The original was too darkened to reproduce in facsimile, so this text was carefully proofed and newly typeset. This ebook is taken from Chapter 2 of the book, Lady Eugenist: Feminist Eugenics in the Speeches and Writings of Victoria Woodhull. Many readers may prefer to get that printed edition or have it purchased by their public or school library, so others can use it. (Lady Eugenist is also available as a ebook.) This ebook also includes two additional chapters from Lady Eugenist: the introduction, Chapter 1, "Was Victoria Woodhull the First Eugenist?" and Chapter 3, "Press Notices," which are eugenic-related selections from newspapers articles about Victoria Woodhull taken from her 1890 book, The Human Body The Temple of God. The entire ebook is 56 pages long, and there are no digital rights management restrictions on the reader's ability to print or cut-and-paste.
