Sehnsucht und noch viel mehr: Trotz, weil man mich schon in jungen Jahren vor - \iKroatien\i und Slavonien "gewarnt," diese L?nder h÷hnisch als - "Halbasien" bezeichnet hatte.

Der Gewissenhaftigkeit wegen war f?r die Studienreise durch Dalmatien und Montenegro usw. die kroatische Sprache erlernt worden. Mit der zur Verst?ndigungsm÷glichkeit ausreichenden Kenntnis dieses auf heimatlichem Boden verspotteten, aber gar nicht ?bel klingenden Idioms ausger?stet, kam es zun?chst zu einer Automobilreise durch Kroatien bis zum s?dlichsten Zipfel dieses in manchen Bezirken m?rchensch÷nen Landes, der K?ste entlang wieder herauf nach Fiume, worauf der Entschlu? zu einem l?ngeren Aufenthalt auf kroatischem Boden gefa?t wurde. G?tige Einladungen seitens des gastfreundlichen Adels f?hrten von Schlo? zu Schlo?; es begann ein Wandern von einer curia nobilis zur andern, von Dorf zu Dorf mit geschultem Blick f?r landschaftliche Sch÷nheit und Wildbestand, mit rasch erweiterten Kenntnissen in der Geschichte des Landes, mit der sozusagen Sp?rnase f?r echtes Volksleben. Der beste Begleiter war jedoch das - Fundgl?ck.
